1966 UMC Energy Solutions

United Meter Company is established in Andrews, Texas as a local oilfield meter service provider.

1988

UMC shifts its focus into oilfield automation, revolutionizing the industry with the release of its E-Z Control tank monitor and control system. More than 10,000 of these systems have been placed into service since.

1994

UMC begins the design and manufacturing of the Personal Emergency Response System (PERS). The technology has since become the backbone of the Life Alert System, which is used by millions worldwide.

1995

UMC forms Baschtex, a joint venture with Russia’s state-owned oil company, Baschneft. The joint venture supplies hundreds of vapor recovery units throughout Siberia, in some of the most harsh conditions on the planet.

1996

UMC opens its first satellite location, an automation and electronics production facility in Midland, Texas.

2005

United Meter Company formally changes its name to UMC Automation and Compression. The company soon becomes sole distributor of Utile Rotary Vane Compressor.

2006

UMC General Manager Thomas Gentry and petroleum engineer Dustin Faulkner publish a groundbreaking article in American Oil & Gas Journal about the use of Vapor Recovery Units (VRUs) in the Bakken Shale, roughly 5 years before major production peaked in the region.

2007

UMC earns its “U” and “R” certifications from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), enabling the company to begin engineering and designing code pressure vessels.

2008

UMC opens its first Bakken field operations office in Williston, North Dakota.

2009

The company receives the UL 508A certification, which allows UMC to become a UL listed panel shop.

2011

UMC moves its primary fabrication facility to Fort Worth, Texas, reaffirming the commitment to provide cost-effective solutions. The company also opens Permian Basin field operation office in Odessa.

2012

UMC Automation and Compression begins doing business under the name UMC Energy Solutions. The company delivers the 500th piece of equipment to the Bakken region.

2013

UMC opens its mid-continent office in Tulsa, OK.

2014

UMC opens a field operations office in Carlsbad, New Mexico to service the Delaware Basin region of southern New Mexico.

2015

UMC receives its UL 698A certification, enabling it to become one of the few companies certified to build hazardous location panels.
